New study will count Arizona farmworkers to help reduce health disparities

The Arizona Farmworker Enumeration Profiles Study will establish the number of farmworkers to inform efforts to improve care and conditions.

Through the Arizona Farmworker Enumeration Profiles Study, researchers at the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health will produce current and credible counts of farmworkers and their household members in the state.

Fredric Edward Wondisford, MD, MS, MBA, will start Oct. 2 as dean of the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. He has more than 30 years of experience in academic medicine and translational research and joins the university from Rutgers University.

$4M NIH grant will test worksite sleep health coaching for Arizona firefighters

Researchers will use a $4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to study ways to help firefighters overcome unique barriers to sleep health, including long working shifts and mandatory overtime.
