Study Aims to Reduce Firefighter Cancer Risk

A $4 million Regents’ Research Grant will allow researchers to test new ways to reduce the risk of occupational-related cancer for firefighters.

Researchers will study the effectiveness of blood or plasma donations in lowering levels of certain cancer-causing chemicals and whether doing so reduces the risk of cancer or cardiovascular disease.
